Project Description:
The City of Austin has requested professional engineering services to implement a project that will provide long-term channel stability and protection of adjacent properties. The construction will include bank stabilization along both sides of the creek between 3rd and 4th Streets, grade control in the channel bed, repair of the hike and bike trail and the 3rd Street bridge approach, and drainage improvements at storm drain outfalls. The constructed elements will be provided in manner that is consistent with City of Austin standards and criteria. This area of Waller Creek is extremely eroded and several existing structures are in danger, including the 3rd Street bridge, an office building, roadway, sidewalk, and water line crossing the creek. CAS is serving as a subconsultant to URS Corporation.

Services Provided:
CAS Consulting & Services provided hydraulic modeling services using HEC-RAS software, analysis of both existing and future creek conditions to ensure that the improvements will be adequate to stabilize the creek while at the same time provide adequate capacity for the creek flows.
