Summer Internships

As a summer intern you will be able to gain real world experience alongside our senior engineers, allowing you the opportunity to see what engineering discipline opportunities are most suitable for you, and to help shape your remaining college experience.

“My summer internship with CAS provided me the incredible opportunity to move from the classroom into a real world work environment. I gained invaluable experience working alongside talented engineers on a broad range of civil engineering projects.”

– Isabella Gandara (Rice University, Class of 2019)

Long-Term Internships

As a long-term interns , you develop problem solving tools and experience that will provide insight and context to solve everyday challenges, as well as the problems from a textbook. We believe that hands-on engineering experience balanced against academia will allow you to get the most out of your time as an undergraduate.

Nayoung Hur (UT Austin, Class of 2019) spent over a year with CAS. As a double major in Environmental Science in Geology and Corporate Communications, it was important for her to learn from both the Engineering and Marketing sides of our business.

“Every day at CAS I was able to learn something new. It was exciting for me to gain a deeper understanding of all things pertaining to water and the environment, and the company’s marketing techniques. While at CAS I was able to attend classes and get the hands-on experience I was looking for.”

– Nayoung Hur (UT Austin, Class of 2019)

International Graduates

Many CAS staff have international experience. This shapes CAS perspective and helps us to recognize the role that culture can play in career development. If you have a stellar resume, we want to hear from you, no matter your home or citizenship status. Such was the case with Ray Kim, who recently joined our firm as an EIT from South Korea.

“The most important thing for me in my job search was knowing if companies were willing to support my visa and open to hiring international candidates. Additionally, I wanted to see that the company was a place I could grow with. Once I successfully got a job here, I felt like I had a new family. To me, the people I work with are just as important as the work. I enjoy the familial environment here and getting to know every person at the company”.

Local Graduates

It is our goal to find and cultivate the best local talent considering a broader range of the engineering programs available. Paul Shattuck, now a Professional Engineer and Certified Floodplain Manager, joined to CAS in 2012 as an EIT and recent graduate from the University of Texas at San Antonio.

“I left college without any internships and no one was willing to hire me. But CAS gave me a chance and I worked as hard as I could to build trusting relationships with the people around me. Eventually I felt like I was growing and a part of something bigger than myself.”

Meeta Mistry, EIT (UT Arlington, Class of 2017) and Austin native, says she chose CAS because it gave her the opportunity to work at a place where she would feel valued.

“I wanted to know that even as an EIT I could make a difference. In larger companies, EIT’s tend to be pushed to the side, but here we are treated as a major part of the team. If you want to go in a certain direction with your career, you have a voice here and the CAS team will do what they can to get you where you want to go.”
