Project Description:
The Rosedale School (Austin Independent School District) is located near the intersection of West 49th Street and Burnet Road in Austin, Texas. The school is planned for extensive renovations and the addition of a covered Physical Education Slab with an 8-10 foot wide rubberized track around the facility. A drainage problem in the Memorial Garden requires resolution in order to correct the current problem of storm water runoff entering foundation vents and flowing beneath the building.

Services Provided:
Heimsath Architects retained CAS to prepare a site plan and resolve drainage issues for the Rosedale School. The site plan was prepared for the new facility showing the covered Physical Education Slab, ADA sidewalks, rubberized track, slab cover, and erosion control. The drainage problem was solved with an innovative and cost effective solution. This solution involved the design of a new sidewalk at an elevation 6 inches below the foundation vents and sloping to drain into the school yard area. The sidewalk connected two sets of stairs that previously did not have sidewalks from the stair landing area.
