Project Description:
In order to meet National Safety Standards, a new all-weather access road is required around the existing East Runway at the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. This is a preliminary feasibility study for the City of Austin Department of Aviation to determine both the most practical and cost-effective route for the perimeter road. The roadway will consist of 850 feet of concrete pavement and 5,215 feet of HMAC pavement. The road will be used for security patrols and emergency vehicle traffic. In addition to the paved roadway, a stormwater run-off detention pond and a series of water quality ponds will be constructed. CAS served as a subconsultant to URS Corporation.

Services Provided:
CAS Consulting & Services provided engineering services to determine the perimeter road location and geometric criteria location. Feasibility to the final design engineering was performed for the roadway, stormwater drainage, and culverts, and a project schedule and estimate of probable construction cost were prepared. In addition CAS designed a stormwater runoff detention pond and a series of water quality ponds.
