The objective is to provide engineering consulting services to Capital Metro for new construction, modifications, and improvements to existing infrastructure for the purpose of accommodating the new Capital Metro’s Commuter Rail service. The project includes the design and construction of 32 miles of commuter railroad which connects Leander to downtown Austin. The commuter railroad line will have nine rail stations. The scope of work includes mainline tracks, turnouts, sidings, at-grade crossings, a temporary rail-car maintenance facility including a railcar shelter, maintenance pit, and fueling area and other appurtenances associated with the rail operation.
Services Provided:
CAS Consulting & Services Inc. is responsible for providing the design of detour, traffic control, and signage and striping plans for construction of at-grade crossings. The design plans are being prepared using the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and City of Austin standards and the TxDOT Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices. CAS is also performing specific tasks such as preliminary assessment of existing conditions, conducting site visits, and preparing field inventories. CAS is a subconsultant to URS Corporation.
