Project Description:
The purpose of this project is to replace 7,680 feet initially (8,616 LF final) of sanitary sewer in Shoal Creek Watershed. The project includes the abandonment and replacement of some sections of the existing sewer collection system as well as constructing new sewers with the wastewater interceptor. Pipe sizes range from 8 to 12 inches. Parts of the sewers to be replaced are located in the Shoal Creek 100-year flood plain. The project also includes connecting 70 new services along with installation of four grinder pumps. Due to existing manhole connections in the creek, streambed stabilization was performed. Temporary and permanent easements had to be obtained to provide access to and allow work within Pease Park. Both open-cut and micro-tunneling were used to install two sewer segments beneath North Lamar Boulevard, which is a heavy traffic street. This project is substantially complete, and under warranty. The final Change Orders result in 8% decrease to the construction cost.
