Construction Engineer/Construction Manager | Austin, TX


  • Master of Science degree or its foreign equivalent in Construction Management;
  • Bachelor of Science degree or its foreign equivalent in Civil Engineering;
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience;
  • Actively pursuing Professional Engineer license from the State of Texas with the ability to obtain a license within 2 years of the date-of-hire;
  • Completion of OSHA 10-hour/30-hour Construction Awareness Training;
  • Completion of OSHA 40-hour Hazardous Waste Operations Training;

Any experience with all of the following:

  • Conceptual development of a construction project related to scheduling, budgeting, and implementation.
  • Reading and interpreting plans, maps, and specifications and recognizing deviations from plans in construction items.
  • Handling and prioritizing multiple tasks.
  • Horizontal and vertical construction methods, practices, and materials.
  • Bluebeam.
  • RS Means.
  • Primavera P6/ MS Project.
  • MS Office (MS Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Building Information Modeling (BIM).
  • Excellent verbal & communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Interacting with the project team (Engineer/Contractor/Owners/Others).
  • Collaborating and working effectively in multi-disciplinary teams.


Reviews/interprets engineering drawings, specifications, and other design documents. Reviews technical submittals; material data sheets, manufacturer’s information, and shop drawings for compliance with the intent of the design. Writes daily and weekly construction reports. Performs field inspections for conformance with the design drawings, specifications, and applicable codes/standards. Works with the contractor’s QC rep and engineer-of-record to resolve any outstanding issues. Proactively identifies potential problems in the field and helps develop alternatives, solutions, and means to mitigate problems. Reviews, gathers data, and provides input to the closure of Requests-for-Information, Field Change Requests, and Change Orders. Monitors system start-up and commissioning. Prepares system turnover packages. Prepares punch list and red-line drawings to show as-built conditions. Reviews the project construction schedule and provides analysis of schedule performance, independent evaluation of the Contractor’s project status reporting, and provides improvement recommendations and corrective measures to recover from schedule lapses. Capable of designing, developing, maintaining, and evaluating detailed resource-loaded schedules for a variety of construction projects. Assists the Project Manager and project buyer/contract administrator in assembling construction work package documents for subcontractor bidding/pricing. Assists project lead in the preparation of cost-estimating products/efforts, for the range of project-related estimating needs including ranging from work package takeoffs/estimates to value engineering/work alternatives to the analysis of project-required change orders. Role requires travel to worksites located in Central Texas and North Texas. Will supervise one to two members of construction staff, such as inspector or QC representative.

TRAVEL: Some domestic travel required for this position, approximately 25%.
