SH-130 Toll Road | Austin, TX

The SH-130 Toll Road Project consists of a 90-mile toll road from Georgetown to Seguin on the east side of Austin. Segments 5 & 6 of SH-130 Toll Road form a 41-mile link from SH-45 through Travis, Caldwell, and Guadalupe counties to I-10 near Seguin. This $1.35 billion project was designed, built, and is operated by the SH-130 Concession Company, LLC (Cintra-Zachry) in partnership with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT). In exchange for their investment, the SH-130 Concession Company receives the right to collect tolls for 50 years in a revenue sharing agreement with the state. The state owns the road while the developer was responsible for financing, design, construction, operation, and maintenance over the life of the agreement.

Services provided include managing drainage design for Segments 5.1, 5.2, 6.1n, and 6.1s (26.9 miles) and serving as the engineer of record for 1.9 miles of Segment 6.1n and Segment 6.1s (10.1 miles). (For Segments 5.1, 5.2, and 6.1n (north end); CAS prepared bridge, bridge scour, culvert, energy dissipater, flume, storm drain, bridge deck drain, ditch, and SW3P designs. CAS also established design procedures and methodologies for bridge, culvert, ditch, storm drain, and SW3P design.) Our team provided drainage expertise involving roadway, structures, utilities, environmental, lighting, and landscape design managers. CAS represented drainage design issues and provided solutions at the independent engineer, contractor, and concessionaire meetings. CAS staff met contractors regularly inside and outside the office to facilitate the necessary changes to the plans ( fundamental to the dynamic nature of the design / build process.) CAS also managed the FEMA CLOMR submittals and obtained approvals for Maha Creek, Cedar Creek, and Plum Creek.
